Small Breakfast, but Big First Impression
- Location: You could plant a hotel anywhere in Bloomington and it would still have a great location, honestly—but it’s only a ten-minute walk to campus and Kirkwood/the square. Not smack-dab in the middle of things, but easy to get around. Also a quick drive to the bypass and I-69.
- Atmosphere: As a fairly new property, the lobby felt clean and well-maintained. Public areas were open and airy.
- Service: All the staff on duty during my stay were terrific!
- Rooms: My suite was oversized, quiet, and comfy. The bed sheets are the budget-type you’d find at Tru or maybe Fairfield, but they sufficed for the price. To minimize noise at peak periods (in which my stay was not), I recommend a high floor facing east (the parking lot).
- Value: Having paid with points, I’m mostly unqualified to speak on value for money; however, the extended-stay amenities and freebies at Home2s are usually worth paying what nightly rates are here, $100-150. And side note: I very much appreciated the hotel’s instant return of the incidentals deposit after checkout!
(Breakfast was extremely small and limited, which is the only aspect of my experience of which I’d encourage a revamp…but I don’t stay at enough Home2s to know if the size I saw is typical of the brand.)
All in all, this hotel certainly competes with the iconically top-rated SpringHill Suites as one of Bloomington’s best places to stay. Recommended!
